Using HTML5 Virtual Console with iDrac 7

Changing Virtual Console from Java to HTML in iDrac7

Using HTML5 Virtual Console with iDrac 7

Why Change?

As of IDRAC @ Lifecycle Controller V.,2.30.30.30, there was added support for HTML5 virtual console and virtual media. I was having issues with the Java console, so I decided to look for alternatives. The HTML5 virtual console would allow for me to connect via a web browser like Chrome.

Enabling HTML5 in iDrac7

To enable this you’ll need to update to iDrac V.,2.30.30.30 or newer. You’ll also need the enterprise version if iDrac.

Login to your server’s iDrac interface and go to the Virtual Console menu under Overview -> Server -> Virtual Console.

Under Plug-in Type, select HTML5 and click Apply.

You can then click Launch Virtual Console, it should launch a connection in a new tab. That is how to use the HTML5 web console with iDrac7.
